So it’s away at Totts for the fifth fixture between the two sides this season.
Can all those fit and available please make an extra effort to attend training this week.
Following the loss to a bizarrely strong Andover XV we now find oursleves going into the play-offs. Over the last few weeks each game the AXV have played has taken on an ever increasing level of importance and the play-offs give us the chance to now really show the other teams in the league that we can raise our game when it’s needed.
Looking at the match report on the Totts site and having played against Andover one thing has been clear. We’ve been slow starters. Totts talk about a team of “tackling tigers” and I’m fairly certain that after the Andover game a lot of there guys would have been surprised at how well we came back at them in the second half.
Other results from the weekend:-
Totts – Petersfield (VOID)
Trojans 22 – 10 Gosport & Fareham
Winchester 24 – 5 Alton
What this actually means for the league and the play-off places as yet are unsure but with some teams not having completed 75% of their fixtures, one would hope that the fixture secretary will be taking this into account when placing teams for the play-offs based on the league rules.
Whatever that decision is this weeks game again takes on a huge level of importance to Havant with the first XV still competing in National 3 South and a chance of success from the AXV through the play-offs this is an opportunity to show people locally in Hampshire and across the South that Havant RFC is a real player in the 15 man game.
Fella’s.
Following the weekends fixtures Winchester beat Andover 26-22. This means that this weekends game at Andover is a must win, and therefore a good turn out and attitude at training this week is essential.
Can you all make sure that you can make training, but if not please let Mike know your availability for the weekend. we need to have the strongest side we possibly can, as we know that Andover will be taking this game seriously and will want to avenge the result at the lane.

Submitted by Vin – yup, cuff and collars match. he’s a real ginger!
Following a trip to the QA with Vinnie “The Wheels” Swanton they’ve decided that with his arm quite badly broken that they are keeping in him to operate on the arm and put a metal plate in to fix him.
I’m sure you’ll all be behind me when I say we wish Vinnie a quick and speedy recovery.

Tit Monday Ah, Tit Monday. It’s not that far off now, that glorious day when, heading into work on the bus, or walking to the Tube, or sitting on the train, you find yourself suddenly chirpier than you have been in months. And then you get a text around lunchtime from a mate which says: “At last, Tit Monday!” And you instantly understand why you are so happy. Big breasts in white work shirts straining at the buttons. Small breasts braless in vest tops, the nipples frotted by ribby fabrics. Breasts in summer dresses bouncing in the distance so that they catch your eye before you even notice there is someone wearing them. Breasts nudging out from the crowd at traffic islands, quivering to cross the road… And you know it is nearly summer. For previous generations, the arrival of spring was heralded by the sound of the first cuckoo. For us, it is Tit Monday. Not that it always falls on a Monday. Like Easter, Tit Monday is a moveable feast. Last year it fell on a Friday. Friday 29 April, to be precise, when temperatures maxed out at 22.1C after nothing much above 16C all year. It last fell on a Monday in 2004, when temperatures leapt to 22C on 24 April. And then, of course, there is Tit Monday Night. You see, in early summer, temperatures drop off very dramatically when night falls (Tit Friday 2005 dropped away to a parky 11.8C). But the dollies are not prepared. Slightly stunned by the morning heat, they drag out the summer clothes but forget to bring a cardie (a mistake they will not make again until next year), so that when they’re all standing outside All Bar One after work celebrating the arrival of spring, their barely covered nipples have no protection from the cold. It’s like a Bring-and-Buy sale where everyone has brought hat pegs. It’s like a prog-rock gig where, instead of lighters, everyone is holding up nipples. So when will Tit Monday fall this year? Will you be the first to text your mates with the announcement? Do not shoot your bolt too early. As the poet said: |
An intersting start to the day with discussions about the pitch and chnages in selection. Once Trojans arrived we were told that they didn’t have a front row so the game started – and finished – with uncontested scrums.
This seemed to have an adverse effect on both teams as it took both sets of forwards some time to get into the game.
It was Havant, however who made the most of this. Lots of early possession and some good angles being ran by the backs gave us the first try.
The Trojans back line looked dangerous at times, but strong tackling and knock-ons littered the game meaning both sides frequently had to re-group without making a great deal of territory. In a game with free-ball from the scrums Havant continued to press on with two further tries, although Trojans came back with some powerfull running resulting in a try under the posts with a sepctacularly missed conversion, charged down by Nick Wren.
Mentions should go to Jonny Nation returning after a 6 week break, Wag, again having a strong game this time in the centres, and Alex who’s tries helped secure the points.
Following a couple of sub par performances it was a much needed “W” for Havant, but they will need to continue improving with two big games coming up in the next two weeks.
In the other game in the Senior Merit Leage Winchester and Tottonians shared the spoils in a 17-17 draw. How important might this result be come the end of the season in Havants quest to win the title at the first attempt remains to be seen, but the lads know that the league is in there to be taken. However, nothing short of 100% commitment and effort is what’s required.
A good turn out at training is essential as with Tottonians coming to the “Lane” on Saturday preperation is of the highest priority.
